Additional Information about Program

The University of Cincinnati Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship Program is recruiting an Advanced Endoscopy Fellow for the 2027-2028 academic year. The Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship Program is a non-ACGME-accredited training program closely affiliated with the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, West Chester Hospital, and Cincinnati VA Medical Center.

Program Highlights:
High-volume training in ERCP and interventional EUS (EUS cystenterostomy, EUS-BD, EUS entero-enterostomy, EUS-portal pressure measurement and more)
Comprehensive training in Endoscopic ablation therapy, cryotherapy and advanced tissue resection
Integration with a busy transplant program, dedicated pancreaticobiliary clinic, and weekly pancreaticobiliary tumor board
Mentorship from nationally recognized experts in advanced endoscopy
Exposure to our cutting-edge endoluminal surgery program (ESD, POEM, Zenker’s diverticulotomy, STER and more)
Join a program that offers immersive training in complex, high-acuity cases and cutting-edge procedures—all within a supportive and respectful academic environment. We are committed to preparing our fellows for both clinical excellence and academic leadership in interventional endoscopy.

Our staff of three full-time advanced endoscopists are committed to providing outstanding clinical care, conducting cutting-edge clinical research and promoting a strong educational environment for our trainees.

Fellows will have an opportunity to care for patients with a breadth of hepatobiliary and pancreatic disorders as well as others potentially requiring advanced endoluminal procedures in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. In addition to the inpatient experience at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, fellows will participate in weekly Pancreas Clinic where they will see a variety of patients referred for complex pancreatic and hepatobiliary disorders.

The Advanced Endoscopy fellow is given an academic appointment as a junior faculty member. They will have limited responsibilities as a GI attending (night call, consult service, GI fellow procedure attending, etc.) to allow dedicated time to learn advanced endoscopic procedures, participate in conferences, and conduct clinical research.

Multidisciplinary Conferences
Fellows will participate in weekly or biweekly multidisciplinary conferences including pancreas conference, hepatobiliary conference and colorectal conference. These conferences involve a coordinated interaction between various specialists including gastroenterologists, hepatologists, radiologists, interventional radiologists, surgical oncologists, transplant surgeons, colorectal surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists and others (PAs, NPs, nurses, social workers, care coordinators) for the assessment and evaluation of patients currently undergoing evaluation. Fellows are expected to present their patients at the conference and participate in the discussions.

Fellows will also participate in other general GI conferences including journal club, radiology conference, pathology conference, etc.
