Dear Prospective AEF Applicant:

Welcome to the Rutgers University-New Brunswick Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship. The program is based out of RWJ Barnabas Health/ Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. It is a large quaternary hospital and the major referral and transfer medical center in NJ. RWJUH is an academic center part of the RWJBarnabas Health System which consists of 12 hospitals in NJ. It receives large volume advanced endoscopy transfers from all over the state. In addition, the Rutgers Cancer Institute of NJ is part of the medical center that feeds complex AE pancreaticobiliary malignancy cases to the program.

The program is led by Petros Benias and Arvind Trindade who were previously the AEF Program Directors in New York for Northwell Health. We have been training AEF for 13 years and are excited to train the next generation of endoscopists at Rutgers Health. The advanced endoscopy program has large volume ERCP, EUS, interventional EUS, fluid collection drainage, gallbladder drainage, luminal resection, luminal ablation for Barrett’s esophagus, and luminal stenting. In addition, third space/endosurgical training is offered by Dr Benias. The faculty, which includes Dr Michael Ma, are passionate about teaching endoscopy and are excited to receive and review your application.
