Additional Information about Program

NYU Langone’s Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in the Department of Medicine is offering a total of 3 positions for Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship to begin on July 1, 2025. There will be 2 positions for our Comprehensive Program and 1 position for our Pancreatobiliary Focus Program.

Candidates for these one-year positions must have completed a three-year Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)–accredited gastroenterology fellowship program. The Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship is not ACGME accredited.

In the NYU Langone Pancreatobiliary Focus Program, fellows will receive specialized training in a variety of interventional endoscopic procedures such as endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), luminal stenting techniques, advanced resection techniques including EMR, ESD and FTRD, POEM procedures, endoscopic closure techniques including suturing, bariatric procedures, endoscopic anti reflux procedures, deep enteroscopy, and other advanced procedures. Compared to the Comprehensive Focus Program, fellows in the Pancreatobiliary Focus Program will have exposure, but less extensive training, in ESD, POEM, and bariatric procedures. Fellows in the Pancreatobiliary Focus Program will spend 6 months training at NYU Manhattan and 5 months training at NYU Brooklyn.

The Pancreatobiliary Focus Program is new for 2023-2024 and has received excellent feedback in the first 4 months.

Fellows also hone their skills in patient triage and clinical decision making, including indications and alternatives for procedures, procedure preparation and follow-up, and communication with consulting physicians, patients and families, and nursing colleagues. Additionally, fellows participate in endoscopic research and present interesting cases and videos at institutional, regional, and national conferences.
