Additional Information about Program

Luminal Intervention Track
The fellow will receive interventional endoscopy training in GI tract. This includes advanced tissue resection (EMR, ESD, EFTR, FTRD), suture, luminal stents, submucosal endoscopy (POEM, G POEM, STER), fistula management, related luminal EUS and others. This track also provides opportunity to work in animal lab.
We envision there would be no to minimum exposure to ERCP.
Academic activity is one of the important aspect of this track and the fellow is expected to engage in multiple studies during specifically allocated time. The fellow is expected to achieve a several publications.

Other interventional endoscopic tools and techniques will be taught on individual skill level and interest basis. Training in advanced procedures and patient care for patients with complex gastrointestinal and pancreaticobiliary issues and the performance of clinical research will be an integral part of the program. Candidates must be certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine or equivalent and will have completed a three-year training program in Gastroenterology. Superior performance in GI subspecialty training must be evidenced by a strong academic record and outstanding recommendations specifically with regard to endoscopic skills. The applicant should be proficient in EGD and colonoscopy and be Board-eligible or Board-certified in gastroenterology. Candidates must be eligible for a medical license in the state of Arizona.
