Additional Information about Program

The mission of our Advanced Therapeutic Ednoscopy Fellowship at The Ohio State Wexner Medial Center is to prepare a fellow for a career in academic advanced therapeutic endoscopy. This includes preparation that will result in clinical excellence, leadership in endoscopic research, as well as the ability to train future endoscopists in advanced techniques.

Clinical Goals:
1. The fellow will participate in and develop competence in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography and edoscopic ultrasound. They will also gain exposure to a wide variety of other advanced endoscopic procedures including, but not limited to, endoscopic mucosal resection, enteral stents, radiofrequency ablation of Barrett's esophagus and balloon enteroscopy.

2.The fellow will work with the entire advanced endoscopy faculty to gain exposure to several approaches and techniques for the aforementioned procedures.

3.The fellow will perform pre-procedural consults as well as perform post-procedure rounds to provide appropriate follow up care.

4.The fellow will receive formal training in fluoroscopy and ultrasound techniques.


Research Goals:
1.The fellow may be granted protected time for research to participate in ongoing projects and/or develop new projects as desired.

2.The fellow will have access to cutting edge equipment from industry to help refine and develop new endoscopic techniques.


Teaching Goals:
1.The fellow will be responsible for resident training in proper pre-endoscopic evaluation, endoscopic technique and post-procedural care.

2.The fellow will participate in resident teaching in clinic settings as well as hospital based rounds.

3.The fellow will participate in and lead case conferences, didactic lectures, and journal clubs related to advanced therapeutic endoscopy.

4.The fellow will work alongside residents in the performance of research as well as mentorship to present work at national meetings and/or for publication in scholarly journals.
