Additional Information about Program

The aim of the advanced endoscopy fellowship at UCSF is to provide comprehensive training in EUS and ERCP, and all that they entail. In addition, there will be opportunities to train in other advanced procedures such as EMR, ESD, E-POEM, G-POEM, TIF, ESG, and balloon-assisted enteroscopy. The fellow has the flexibility to tailor their training depending on their interests. The fellowship is designed to be a one-year rigorous clinical and endoscopic training program for candidates who have successfully completed an ACGME-accredited gastroenterology fellowship. The successful candidate will be trained in advanced endoscopic procedures, have shared call responsibility for the in-patient Advanced Endoscopy Service, and present cases at multidisciplinary conferences. Although this is a busy clinical fellowship, fellows will be expected to participate in clinical research and will be expected to submit case presentations and original research for presentation to the annual GI conferences and for publication. UCSF is a tertiary care referral center with a very busy interventional practice that receives referrals from both internally and all over the West Coast. Trainees of this program are very well prepared for both academic and clinical practice after fellowship.
